In this document
1.1The website at shieldsgroup.co.uk (the “Site”) is operated by Shields Group, the business that designs, installs, monitors and maintains intruder alarm, CCTV and video doorbell systems for homes and businesses under the Shields Group name. In these Terms, “Shields Group”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to that business.
1.2You can contact us by email at contact@shieldsgroup.co.uk. If you are a customer, you can also write to us at the address shown in your Order or on your latest invoice.
1.3“You” and “your” mean the person using the Site. If you use the Site on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to accept these Terms for it, and “you” includes that organisation.
2.1These Website Terms of Use (the “Terms”) set out the rules for using the Site. By using the Site, you confirm that you accept these Terms and agree to comply with them.
2.2If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Site.
3.1These Terms govern your use of the Site. The following documents also apply where relevant:
3.2If there is a conflict between these Terms and our Customer Terms and Conditions or Offer Terms, those documents apply to the matters they cover.
4.1We may change these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes to the Site, to our services or to the law. The version published on the Site when you use it is the version that applies to you.
4.2Please check this page each time you use the Site. These Terms were last updated on 30 October 2026.
5.1We may update and change the Site from time to time.
5.2The Site is provided free of charge. We do not guarantee that the Site, or any content on it, will always be available or uninterrupted. We may suspend, withdraw or restrict the availability of all or any part of the Site for business or operational reasons, including maintenance, security and updates. Where we can, we will give reasonable notice of any planned suspension or withdrawal.
6.1The Site is intended for people in the United Kingdom. Our services are available only in the areas we cover, which are shown on the Site. We do not represent that content on the Site is appropriate or available for use elsewhere.
6.2You must be 18 or over to ask for a quote, to book a survey or to enter into an agreement with us.
6.3The partner portal is available only to Authorised Users, as explained in clause 9.
7.1You may use the Site only for lawful purposes: to find out about us and our services, to check whether we cover your area, to ask for a quote, to contact us and, if you are an Authorised User, to use the partner portal.
7.2You must not:
7.3A breach of clause 7.2 may be a criminal offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990. We may report any such breach to the relevant law enforcement authorities, cooperate with them and disclose information to them, including your identity where we know it. If there is such a breach, your right to use the Site ends immediately.
8.1Our quote form and other forms are provided so that customers and prospective customers can contact us. When you use them, you must:
8.2You must not use our forms to:
8.3We may decline, ignore or delete any request that we reasonably believe breaches this clause 8, and we may block further requests from the same source.
8.4Sending a form does not create a contract between us (see clause 11).
9.1The partner portal is a restricted area of the Site for our engineers, partners and staff. Only people to whom we have issued an account may use it (“Authorised Users”). If you are not an Authorised User, you must not access or attempt to access it.
9.2If you are an Authorised User, you must:
9.3We may monitor and keep records of access to and activity in the portal, including sign-ins and, while you are on shift, your location. We do this to protect our customers, keep the portal secure, investigate misuse and run our service. Our Privacy Notice and the information we give partners when they join explain this in more detail.
9.4We may suspend or withdraw an Authorised User’s access at any time, without notice, if we reasonably believe that their sign-in details have been compromised, that they have breached these Terms or any agreement with us, or that suspension is needed to protect our customers, our systems or our business. Access also ends when the Authorised User’s work for us ends.
9.5Any separate agreement between us and an Authorised User, or the business they work for, also applies to their use of the portal. If there is a conflict, that agreement applies.
10.1The content on the Site is provided for general information only. It is not advice about the security of any particular property, and you must not rely on it as such.
10.2Every property is different. The equipment we recommend, where it should go and what your system will cost can only be confirmed after one of our engineers has surveyed your property, and are then set out in a written quote. Information on the Site is not a substitute for that survey.
10.3Descriptions of equipment, features and response steps on the Site explain how our systems and service generally work. What applies to you is set out in your quote and Order and in our Customer Terms and Conditions.
10.4Images on the Site may be illustrative. Videos on the Site that show break-ins are reconstructions filmed with actors.
10.5Any information on the Site about crime, police response, insurance or data protection law is general guidance only. The police decide whether and how to attend any incident. You should take professional advice, or speak to your insurer, about your own circumstances.
10.6We make reasonable efforts to keep the Site up to date, but we do not promise that its content is accurate, complete or current.
11.1Information on the Site about our products, services, packages, offers and any prices or monthly costs is an invitation to contact us. It is not an offer that you can accept to form a contract.
11.2Any prices or monthly costs shown on the Site are a guide only. What you will pay is set out in your written quote following your survey.
11.3A contract between you and us for equipment or services is formed only as described in our Customer Terms and Conditions, following your survey and written quote. Asking for a quote, booking a survey or receiving a quote does not oblige you, or us, to enter into a contract.
11.4Our survey is free and there is no obligation to go ahead.
11.5Offers shown on the Site, such as our free video doorbell offer, are subject to their own Offer Terms and are available only while the offer runs. We may change or end an offer in accordance with those terms.
11.6If you are a consumer, you may have a legal right to cancel a contract you make with us within 14 days. Our Customer Terms and Conditions explain this right and how to use it.
11.7We are not bound by an obvious error in a description or price on the Site. We will correct any error as soon as reasonably possible after we become aware of it.
12.1We own, or are licensed to use, all intellectual property rights in the Site and its content, including its text, design, layout, graphics, logos, photographs, video and software. Some photographs and video footage are used under licence from photographers and stock libraries. All these rights are reserved.
12.2Subject to these Terms, we give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to access and view the Site, and to print or download extracts from it, for your own personal use or to consider our services for your business.
12.3Under that licence, you must not:
12.4If you copy or download any part of the Site in breach of these Terms, your right to use the Site ends immediately and you must, at our option, return or destroy any copies you have made. Nothing in these Terms restricts any use of the Site’s content that the law allows without permission.
13.1The Shields Group name and logo, and the other names, marks and designs we use to identify our business and services, are our trade marks, whether or not they are registered. You must not use them without our prior written permission, including in domain names, social media names, online advertising or search keywords, or in any way that suggests a connection with us or our endorsement.
13.2Names of products, technologies, platforms and organisations that belong to other people, such as equipment manufacturers and review platforms, may appear on the Site. They are the trade marks of their respective owners. Their appearance does not mean that those owners endorse us, or that we endorse them.
14.1Where the Site shows a rating or reviews from a named review platform, such as Google, the rating reflects the reviews published on that platform when we last updated the Site, and may have changed since.
14.2Reviews are the personal views of the customers who wrote them. They describe individual experiences, which may not be typical of every customer, and they are not statements by us.
14.3We do not knowingly publish fake reviews, and we do not present reviews in a way intended to mislead. If you believe that a review shown on the Site is not genuine or is misleading, please tell us at contact@shieldsgroup.co.uk and we will look into it.
14.4If you write a review of us on a review platform, that platform’s own terms apply to it.
15.1Links on the Site to other websites are provided for your information only. We have no control over those websites and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. A link does not mean that we endorse them.
15.2You may link to our home page or to other public pages of the Site, provided you do so in a way that is fair and legal and does not damage our reputation or take advantage of it. You must not link in a way that suggests any form of association with us, or approval or endorsement by us, where none exists.
15.3You must not link to the Site from any website that contains material that would breach clause 7, you must not link to the partner portal, and you must not frame the Site or any part of it on another website.
15.4We may withdraw permission to link to the Site without notice.
16.1This clause 16 applies if you are a consumer, meaning an individual using the Site for purposes that are wholly or mainly outside your trade, business, craft or profession.
16.2Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by the law of England and Wales. Nothing in these Terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
16.3If we fail to comply with these Terms, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these Terms or of our failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable. Loss or damage is foreseeable if it is obvious that it would happen, or if, at the time you used the Site, both we and you knew it might happen.
16.4We provide the Site for domestic and private use. We are not liable to you for any loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity.
16.5Our responsibility to you for any equipment or services you buy from us is set out in our Customer Terms and Conditions, not in these Terms.
17.1This clause 17 applies if you use the Site in the course of a trade, business, craft or profession.
17.2Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by the law of England and Wales.
17.3To the extent permitted by law, we exclude all conditions, warranties, representations and other terms that might otherwise apply to the Site or any content on it, whether express or implied.
17.4We will not be liable to you for any loss or damage, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise, even if foreseeable, arising under or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Site, or your use of or reliance on any content on the Site.
17.5In particular, we will not be liable to you for loss of profits, sales, business or revenue; business interruption; loss of anticipated savings; loss of business opportunity, goodwill or reputation; or any indirect or consequential loss or damage.
17.6Our responsibility to you for any equipment or services you buy from us is set out in our Customer Terms and Conditions and any other written agreement between us, not in these Terms.
18.1We take reasonable steps to keep the Site secure, but we do not guarantee that it will be secure or free from bugs or viruses.
18.2You are responsible for configuring your own technology to access the Site, and you should use your own virus protection software. You must not introduce harmful material or attack the Site, as set out in clause 7.
18.3If you find a security weakness in the Site, please report it to us at contact@shieldsgroup.co.uk and do not test or exploit it further.
19.1We use any personal information you give us through the Site, or that we collect when you use it, as described in our Privacy Notice.
19.2We use cookies and similar technologies as described in our Cookie Policy. We record visits to the Site only if you click “Accept All” in our cookie banner, and anything you type into a form is masked in your browser before anything is sent to us.
19.3If you give us information about another person, for example a keyholder or a person you are acting for, you must make sure you are entitled to do so.
20.1We are not responsible for any failure or delay in providing the Site that is caused by an event outside our reasonable control, such as a telecommunications or power failure, a failure of or attack on our hosting or other providers, severe weather, fire, flood, pandemic or civil unrest.
20.2If such an event happens, we will restore the Site as soon as we reasonably can.
21.1We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to another organisation, including if the ownership or legal form of our business changes. We will make sure that any transfer does not reduce your rights under these Terms.
21.2These Terms are between you and us. No other person has any right to enforce any of them.
21.3Each clause of these Terms operates separately. If a court or other relevant authority decides that any of them is unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining clauses continue in full force and effect.
21.4If we delay in enforcing these Terms, we can still enforce them later.
22.1If you are a consumer, these Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and you can bring legal proceedings in respect of the Site in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland, you can bring legal proceedings in either the Scottish or the English courts. If you live in Northern Ireland, you can bring legal proceedings in either the Northern Irish or the English courts.
22.2If you are a business, these Terms, their subject matter and their formation, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them (including non-contractual disputes or claims), are governed by the law of England and Wales, and we both agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
23.1If you have any questions about these Terms or the Site, or wish to report content or misuse, please email contact@shieldsgroup.co.uk.
23.2If you are unhappy with our service, our Complaints Procedure explains how to complain and what happens next.
Email our team and we will respond to your query.
